Tours
Enjoy
your time touring the wilderness around the North West
Gander River lodge and view some of the wildlife,
flowers, plants and beautiful scenery which abound in
the area.
Canoeing
The
North West Gander River is one of the largest and among
the best canoe rivers in Newfoundland. While it is not
considered a dangerous river, it offers interesting and
challenging rapids and riffles that set the adrenaline
flowing. Actually, it is considered a Class 1 river with
some Class 2 rapids. There is no portaging, but lining
is usually required on some rapids - depending on your
mastery of the fine art of canoeing.
The trip is usually 2-3 days with one night at the North
West Gander Lodge. We recommend a stay of 2-3 extra days
at the Lodge to salmon/trout fish, hike, observe
wildlife or just relax. Also, one can extend the trip by
canoeing the main stem of the Lower Gander River to the
ocean (add 2-3 days). We can supply guides, food,
canoes, accommodations, canoeing instructions, etc.
Wildlife
Coyotes,
Fox, Lynx, Snowshoe Hare, Grouse, Ptarmigan, Bald
Eagles, Ducks, Geese and many more species are available
throughout the area.
The right to harvest a coyote will automatically be
included on any license you have until you have filled
that license
